A little time spent in Madison, GA….

Last week, Mother, Daddy, and I spent Thursday evening and Friday in beautiful Madison, GA. A very kind friend gave us tickets to see the Atlanta Symphony at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center and passes for the annual historic tour of homes. As always, the symphony sounded amazing and the homes on the tour couldn’t have been more beautiful! What a wonderful way to start this holiday season!!!

This past Saturday, the store was buzzing with holiday activity! We hosted our annual Christmas Open House and had a great time! It was the perfect way to kick of this wonderful season!!!

I thought I would share one of the recipes from our “Friendly” Thanksgiving supper with you….A sauté of cabbage, apples, and fennel….Very easy and very tasty!

1 Head Red Cabbage - shredded, 1 Red Onion - thinly sliced, 2 Granny Smith Apples - thinly sliced, 2 Fennel Bulbs - thinly sliced, 1 Cup White Wine, 2 Tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar, Olive Oil, Salt and Pepper - to taste

Sauté onion and fennel until soft, in olive oil. Add in cabbage and apples and cook until cabbage wilts. Add in wine and cook until apples are soft. Pour in vinegar and cook until well combined. Salt and pepper to taste.

On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Amos and I had a few friends over to celebrate all of the things we are thankful for….Good Food, Good Friends, Good Music….Just to name a few! We had a great time and truly are thankful for all of the great friends we have made in Nashville!

About a month ago, Mother, Kit and I packed up a passel of our Orchards goodies and headed to Atlanta for the AmericasMart Fall Gift and Gourmet Show, and I thought I’d share a few of our pictures with you.  While we were there, we had a great time!  We picked up 35 new stores that will now be selling our yummy treats and made lots of new friends. 

As you may have seen a few days ago, our Praline Pecans won the award for Best Candy, Non-Chocolate…I cannot begin to tell you how honored we were to have been chosen.  The competition was tough, and all of the contenders were worthy of the award.  Boy, are we excited!!!  We can’t wait until the January show…If you’ll be there, be sure to come by and say, “Hi!”

In the mean time, we’ll be filling all of your holiday orders!  Don’t forget to order your pies, candies, and snacks that will make your holiday season Southern.  Soulful.  Splendid.  Superb.!!!

In honor of National Candy Day, we are very pleased to announce that during the October Gift and Gourmet Show at AmericasMart Atlanta we were awarded the Best Candy Award for our Praline Pecans. Many, many thanks to the judges, but most of all to the 35 new shops that will now be carrying Orchards Gourmet Products! We had a great time at the show and are over-the-moon to have been chosen as best candy!
